Smart Education = Smart Investment. Massive Market Growth Ahead!
The global smart education and learning market size is expected to reach USD 680.1 billion by 2027, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. The market is anticipated to witness a CAGR of 17.9% from 2020 to 2027. Demand for smart education and learning solutions is increasing among the growing population in corporate and academic sectors, owing to benefits such as improved education quality and easy access to educational content. Increasing adoption of consumer electronics, such as smartphones, e-readers, laptops, and e-learning applications, has altered conventional education methodology and has enhanced the efficiency of an individual to learn. Additionally, there are enormous opportunities for advancements in the market, owing to improved internet accessibility.
Also, the COVID - 19 outbreak has emerged an opportunity for the market with an increasing number of states and countries closing educational institutes. For instance, over 90.0% of the world’s students are not attending their schools due to this pandemic, as mentioned by UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization). Commonwealth of Learning (COL), an intergovernmental organization of The Commonwealth (Canada), has supported educational institutions and governments in building robust distance education solutions for quality e-learning practices. However, lack of awareness among end-users about the latest technologies and inadequate amount of resources for delivering quality education in developing regions is anticipated to hinder market growth.
The simulation-based learning segment is anticipated to exhibit the highest CAGR because this mode enables corporate professional and educational institutions to create a realistic experience in a controlled environment. It also allows professionals and learners to practice, navigate, explore, and obtain more information through a virtual medium before they start working on real-life tasks. Growing awareness among people and the rising popularity of smart education are encouraging solution providers to invest in research and development for creating more reliable, better, and cost-effective solutions. Manufacturers are making substantial investments in developing new products for enhancing the user experience.
Smart Education And Learning Market Report Highlights:
Growing demand for smart educational practices can be accredited to factors, such as reducing expenses of online training, curbing geographic challenges in physically attending classes, and time constraints faced by aspirants
Increasing penetration of the Internet of Things (IoT), enhanced internet accessibility, and rapid adoption of mobile technology have encouraged users to adopt smart education and learning solutions
Innovative techniques, such as gamification, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), microlearning, and adaptive learning, which improve the overall educational process, are expected to drive the market over the projected period
North America accounted for the largest market share in 2019 owing to its large consumer base for e-learning methods

Yeah Mr. Darcy’s proposal was a complete turd and a half but you gotta understand. You got your life together. A good career, stable income, retirement plan, all that shit together. And you meet this girl. And she’s everything. Clever, outspoken, funny, calls you on your bullshit. Grade A cutie, right? And she doesn’t go out of her way to spend time with you but she’s nice, and sometimes you catch her looking your way in a way that makes you think you might have a shot.
But her family. Holy shit.
First off, it’s p much ALL women, and mostly UNMARRIED women, which at this time means of something happens to her dad then you’re financially responsible for like. Four grown ass adults, potentially forever
Because mom in law is DEFINITELY gonna need someone to take care of her when dad in law kicks it, and they have like. NO money. So already you’re accepting that if all goes well, you’re gonna be one random old bag’s retirement home. That’s expensive and exhausting, yeah? Imagine asking someone on a first date knowing that if they say yes and things go good her high-strung chihuahua mother is gonna move in with you. IMAGINE.
And girly’s other sisters. Well, one is a sweetheart, yeah, so she probably won’t be an issue, but that still leaves three more, and two of those ones are INSUFFERABLE. Never went to school, dumb as rocks, spend cash like it’s toilet paper
And while one of the two is young still and might grow out of it the OTHER one is actively torpedo’ing her entire family’s reputation by wandering off with random dudes and chasing ass. She’s never gonna work, she can’t build connections, she’s a fucking sinkhole, and she’s being led on by the same goddamn con man ass leeching tit who’s been bleeding you dry while telling anyone who’ll listen that your family is full of ratty thieving bastards.
And if he dumps her after a week- WHICH YOU KNOW HIS BITCH ASS IS GONNA- you’ve got a SECOND UNMARRIABLE GROWN ASS ADULT TO PROVIDE FOR. And you KNOW she’s gonna be a tantrum-throwing little shit about it, and it’s not like you can lock her in the basement or something, you’re gonna have to bring her fucking. Everywhere. And give her an allowance and shit while she contributes zero, because again, she NEVER GOT EDUCATED AND HAS NO MARKETABLE SKILLS. She’s not even good to TALK to. FUCK
And you’re looking at this girl’s father like “please for the love of fuck get your spawn under control, marry them off, get them working on their résumé, learning to sew or be nursemaids or manage staff or SOMETHING, yall got no money and one foot in the grave” and that old man just laughs like “haha yeah, what can you do. lol”
So you’re looking to the mom and finally it’s making sense how she got that twitch in her eye and as MUCH as she is you’re starting to realize she’s the SMART one, desperately throwing her armloads of girls at random men like they’re a bunch of fucking lifeboats bobbing around a sinking ship, like yes Jesus Christ sweetly that life boat IS old and ugly and kind of boring but for FUCKS SAKE PICK ONE
And you look back at this girl who is ALSO REFUSING THE LIFE BOATS BY THE WAY and god damn it she’s still the most radiant thing you’ve ever seen so fine, fuck it, Christ alive, you’ll do it. You’ll shoot your shot. She’s everything you’ve ever wanted in anybody abut it’s not even just about that anymore, it’s about being her best fucking shot at a future, and even if she doesn’t like you all that much she’s still gonna say yes and that might break your heart a bit knowing it’s about the money but who knows, maybe it will at least be civil, or companionable, and even if she doesn’t LOVE you at least you’ll know she’s well and cared for
And so you’ll do it. You’ll take on the neurotic stress mess mother in law, the absent father, the broke ass wingnut no brain no money no future airhead sisters, the bad mannered relatives and the embarrassing behaviour and the impending future of sharing your entire shit with a clown parade of freeloaders, you’ll risk it all and accept the absolute certainty of financial ruin and emotional exhaustion for the rest of your whole ass life and you’ll make your own family deal with it too, you’ll do it, you’ll fucking DO IT, you stupid lovesick motherfucker
And so you go to this chick like “look. Your whole family’s a shitshow. You’ve got fucking nothing and you’re gonna die on the street. But for some reason- and I don’t get it either- I’ve fallen in love with you, and I wish I didn’t, but I did, so I’m telling you that whether you like me or not, I’ll give you everything. I’ll give you everything even if it’s the dumbest shit I ever done. Fuck my stupid Baka ass, I’ll marry you.”
And she looks at you- having heard or considered absolutely none of your months-long internal debate and monologue- and goes “The fuck did you just say about my family, you son of a bitch?”
And the shock of that is enough to jolt you back into a reality where you are able to actually hear and process what just came out of your damn mouth And yeah
Yeah, I think I kinda get it
#Pride and prejudice#fuuuuuuuck#Yeah you both kinda stupid#I forgot some shit don’t hate me#Also yes I forgot Mary but I’m gonna say Darcy did too just to cover my ass#Self edit

Stupid Girl (fondly)
not really sure what this is, but the scott rot was real after watching twisters
Word Count: 1.4k
Summary: Scotts an asshole but he secretly cares (?)
Scott was irritated, although that wasn’t saying much, considering he usually was. The heat and lack of data they’d collected due to Javi following Kate around had him more on edge than usual. It didn’t help that you had been ignoring him.
There’s no way he would ever admit to the fact, but he missed you. He knew he’d messed up earlier, and you were usually more forgiving of his moods, but the heat seemed to have you on edge too.
Thinking about it now, you’re surprised the two of you hadn’t gotten into such a fight before this, considering the difference in your jobs. Scott profited off the tornado victims, and you offered your services for free.
During the calmer seasons, you worked as a nurse in a nearby clinic, and during tornado season, you normally frequented the towns with the most wreckage and helped the victims in any way you could.
Scott and you had met in a similar way, actually. He had been in one of the town’s aftermaths to help his uncle with marketing for Storm Par when he saw you. You were treating a small scrape on a kid no older than 10. Scott had rolled his eyes when he saw the kid’s tears. It was a scrape, and here you were doting on him like it was a gash. Once the kid had run off to find his mother, Scott approached you. Once he got closer, he noted you were… pretty. Not that he cared, obviously.
“He was fine,” Scott scoffed, almost annoyed.
You had been confused at first, mumbling, “Sorry?” as you stood to brush yourself off from where you had been crouching next to the boy.
“He’s gonna complain about a paper cut if he gets coddled like that,” he smacked his gum.
“He’s a kid. Plus, paper cuts hurt,” you countered, raising your head to look at him.
And not to be dramatic, but he was gorgeous. Maybe that’s why you ignored the obvious asshole demeanor he had.
Scott rolled his eyes. “He’s a wuss,” and he fought a smile at the offended look you had at his words.
You glared at him and almost argued, but decided he wasn’t worth your time. No matter how gorgeous.
Scott, unfortunately for him, could not say the same.
“I’m Scott,” he said, even reaching out his hand. Not because he wanted to feel your hand or anything; he was doing it to be polite. At least, that’s what he told himself.
You rolled your eyes, but it was more lighthearted than anything, and told him your name, reaching out your own hand to shake his.
He was disturbed with himself for feeling so shocked at the contact. Your hand was so soft, and it made him want to pull you closer.
An intrusive thought. A vile intrusive thought that he blamed you for internally. You were trying to distract him with your pretty looks and soft hands. Well, Scott was stronger than that, so he vowed to himself he wouldn’t speak to you again.
That vow lasted about a week.
It wasn’t his fault, not really. You had been at almost every single one of the tornado aftermaths, and he had been dragged by Javi to two of them and by his uncle to one. And every single time, he found himself gravitating toward you to start a conversation.
You’d been less interested when he first approached you, wondering why you were in the town at all, especially since you weren’t getting paid.
He shut up soon after realizing how repulsed you seemed to be by the question.
By the second time, he knew to steer clear of certain topics and asked you more friendly questions, like where you grew up and why you were a nurse in the first place.
He figured out many things about you by the fourth time he’d seen you, and by the fifth, you had warmed up to him.
You learned he was smart. And not just in science and tornados. He was actually pretty well-rounded, just maybe not in social situations.
You learned he was cocky about almost everything: his education, wealth, success, and looks. Though, after having met his uncle, it made sense. The trait ran in the family, apparently.
You learned Scott was more fun than you originally thought. Maybe fun was an exaggeration, but he was certainly more.
Now, it’s been three weeks since you first met, and you’ve been ignoring him due to an impassive comment he made. How could you blame him? Nothing had been going according to plan, and Storm Par had hardly collected enough evidence since Kate and the YouTubers were in town.
So maybe telling you he found your job pointless wasn’t the smartest thing to do. What he had been trying to say was you should just stay at your clinic to help people from there. He thought it was pointless that you weren’t benefiting from helping them right at the scene.
You hadn’t liked that at all and called him an asshole right before retreating back to your medical tent that was set up.
Scott rolled his eyes, figuring you’d be over it in ten minutes, but then it became twenty, and thirty, and after an hour, Scott had to leave with Javi to follow up a storm. Hopefully getting there before Tyler and Kate.
It was all fine until Javi wanted to go follow Kate to the town the tornado was headed towards. Scott was upset. Of course, Javi wanted to go help them. It made his eye twitch; they needed the data.
He says the words of not caring about the victims before he can stop himself. He winces internally, and Javi looks at him horrified. However, Scott hadn’t planned on taking it back until,
“Your girlfriend is out there,” Javi pointed out, desperate to get through to him.
You were not his girlfriend. But Scott knew what he meant and fought the urge to hit the dashboard in frustration.
He cursed under his breath. “Well? Are you waiting for a green light? Fucking drive,” he grumbled, but the worry swelling in his chest was real.
The rest happened ten times as fast. The movie theater had been split in half, a couple dozen people taken by it, and Kate was somewhere in Tyler’s truck on a suicide mission, at least that’s what he heard later. He wasn’t there. No, after the tornado had stopped, even before it did, really, Scott was a frantic mess looking for you between the crowds.
You weren’t at the theater, nor at the gas station, and hadn’t been in any of the nearby stores. Scott’s heart sunk, and he was almost going to face the possibility that you might be dead. Almost.
As he was jogging up a block in search of you, he saw a small, crushed little shed. He was surprised the majority of it was still there, even though it had fully collapsed. That’s when he saw a hand. Not just any hand—your hand. He knew from staring at it long enough.
He rushed over in a panicky breath and called your name a few times before lifting some of the wood off you.
You groaned when you felt the weight being taken off you and felt dried blood near your temple.
“Scott?” you mumbled warily.
He let out a breath of relief. “Yeah. S’me.” Then, more firmly, “The fuck were you thinking, huh? You know better than to stay in a little shack. You’re damn lucky you didn’t get swept up.”
You smiled softly at his scolding. “I was helping a dog.” As if on cue, the puppy that was curled in your chest during the storm barked.
Scott glared, unamused. “You could’ve died,” he said bluntly, grabbing you by the arms softly, whispering apologies at your whimpers. He got you out of the destroyed shed (the dog too) and pulled you in for a hug. More for him than you. “I thought you died,” he stressed, quieter this time.
“You’d miss me,” you teased in a light voice, though the laughing made your ribs hurt.
He rolled his eyes and pressed a kiss to the top of your head, holding you closer. “Stupid girl,” but the fondness in his voice wasn’t something he could hide.

i think part of why some people have a knee-jerk negative reaction to any attempt to understand the motives of fascists is because if you acknowledge that anyone can be radicalized, you have to acknowledge that anyone includes you.
we know humans are very, very suspect to groupthink, pack mentality, tribalism, and learned helplessness - an individual is smart and empathetic, a group is... not. but we also need to be in groups to survive, not just practically but emotionally. we generally don't do well on our own. so you see how this can lead to problems, especially if no one's working to keep their worst impulses in check.
i think a lot of people think they'd never fall into fascist thinking because of who they are, because they're good people, because they're built different - but it likely has more to do with who raised you, what social groups you spend your time with, how educated you are, how much exposure you got to other perspectives, and whether or not you were preyed on by someone with an agenda when you were vulnerable. it's the same with people who share that "you are not immune to propaganda" meme... while clearly thinking that they, themselves, are in fact immune to propaganda.
i don't mean to say that individuals hold no responsibility - your actions are your own, and ultimately it's up to you to not become your worst self. and it is definitely true that fascism appeals especially to people who were already bullies. but i do think we need to keep in mind why people become their worst selves, and how it is unfortunately very, very easy compared to the alternative.
anyway! if you want to learn more about how people become radicalized, i'd recommend:
Hey, Hun: Sales, Sisterhood, Supremacy, and the Other Lies Behind Multilevel Marketing by Emily Lynn Paulson (okay okay I know saying multilevel marketing companies are in any way comparable to fascism is a bit much - but the book does a great job illustrating how someone smart and empathetic, someone who by all rights should "know better" can get sucked into a cult-like environment, and why they might stick around even after realizing the situation is fucked. the book also examines the relationship between these companies and the american right.)
You're Wrong About: "Losing Your Relatives to Fox News" (does a great job explaining why people who have been radicalized are so resistant to learning any information that contradicts their worldview)
A Bit Fruity: "How Did Elon Musk Get Like This?" (has a really comprehensive timeline of Elon's journey down the alt-right pipeline)
Hype: How Scammers, Grifters, and Con Artists Are Taking Over the Internet--And Why We're Following by Gabrielle Bluestone (specifically talks about the spread of false information and scams on the internet, and touches on how this can lead to radicalization)
Who's Afraid of Gender? by Judith Butler (talks about the "anti-gender" movement, and how the movement can operate despite - or because of - all the contradictions in its messaging, and how it picks up new members)
TikTok vs Democracy (just the entire video, but there's an especially chilling bit near the end where it's demonstrated exactly how easy it is to slip into fascist rhetoric without even realizing it)
Girl Math & Girl Power: The Conservative Politics of 'Girl World' (examines the "I'm just a girl!!!" thing through the lens of its connections to conservative ideology and the tradwife thing)
White Supremacists and the Tradwives Who Love Them and its sequel 'Oppressed' by Choice: Tradwives Against Feminism (a deep dive into the tradwife movement and its intersection with white supremacy and other fascist ideology)
A Man Plagiarized My Work: Women, Money, and the Nation (a deep dive into how women's work has always been undervalued, and the reason some women are drawn to fascism)
A Bit Fruity: "How Conservatism Infiltrated Pop Culture" (an examination into why so many young people are attracted to the alt-right, and how the fuck we got here)
A Bit Fruity: "The Crunchy to Far Right Pipeline" (a deep dive into how people who consider themselves liberal and progressive can still fall down the alt-right pipeline)
there are loads more resources, so please share them in the comments!!

''The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power'' by Shoshana Zuboff, 2018 "I define surveillance capitalism as the unilateral claiming of private human experience as free raw material for translation into behavioral data. These data are then computed and packaged as prediction products and sold into behavioral futures markets — business customers with a commercial interest in knowing what we will do now, soon, and later. It was Google that first learned how to capture surplus behavioral data, more than what they needed for services, and used it to compute prediction products that they could sell to their business customers, in this case advertisers. But I argue that surveillance capitalism is no more restricted to that initial context than, for example, mass production was restricted to the fabrication of Model T’s. Right from the start at Google it was understood that users were unlikely to agree to this unilateral claiming of their experience and its translation into behavioral data. It was understood that these methods had to be undetectable. So from the start the logic reflected the social relations of the one-way mirror. They were able to see and to take — and to do this in a way that we could not contest because we had no way to know what was happening. We rushed to the internet expecting empowerment, the democratization of knowledge, and help with real problems, but surveillance capitalism really was just too lucrative to resist. This economic logic has now spread beyond the tech companies to new surveillance–based ecosystems in virtually every economic sector, from insurance to automobiles to health, education, finance, to every product described as “smart” and every service described as “personalized.” By now it’s very difficult to participate effectively in society without interfacing with these same channels that are supply chains for surveillance capitalism’s data flows." from an interview with Shoshana Zuboff in the Harvard Gazette in March of 2019. It's an interesting interview that I suggest you peruse.

10h stellium

—Exhibits great authority and knowledge. Well versed in marketing tactics, architecture, engineering, or fashion. Loves to assert their opinions and perspectives and their ideas. Oh, you want their idea? That’s a commodity. Slap a copyright onto that. Because this person knows their ideas are it.
—Exudes charisma, courage, strength. Sways the masses with their words and chooses their words wisely. Is educated and yet open to learning so much more.
—Naturally gravitates to leadership positions or somehow it finds them. Takes the lead and others follow. Anyone who dare objects, they better hope there’s a place for them in heaven.
—Open. Open minded to discussions. But they are structured, disciplined. They will test you! Head strong and adamant on changing political structures. And will enforce their ideas with a sense of confidence! Community values. Anything that causes a disruption these people will want to put an end to it.
—Possibly were called arrogant, cocky, smart mouthed at an early age. But these natives are just vastly open minded, sharing their ideas and experiences. Where’s the hurt?
—Somehow always in the public eye. Whether it be their fashion taste, social media posts, following, these people naturally attract attention.
—Takes good care of the people around them and tries to set an example. Shows them their power and not to hide from it. Wants people to be the best version of themselves. “We all have the capacity to be better, before you doubt yourself just look where I’m at.”
—Funny! These individuals can be witty and charming, clever with their jokes. Dry humor. Means well. But their humor can glint like the edge of a knife if you piss them off.
-The kind where if you piss them off, they will do their research for hours on the work you presented just to ask all the questions on the details you missed in front of everyone. Overpowering presence. :)

More Hannibal Rising babbling yay! I left off where I did last time because I was tired and it was already long as hell so it'll be fun to see where we end up today.
I forgot to mention my last post so I'll put it here: origins of the mind palace! When Hannibal is 8 or 9 his parents got him a special tutor, because he was just so smart big brained, who introduced him to the idea and helped him create one.
Moving on
So yes there's this whole thing where 13yr old Hannibal is mute (except for screaming "Mischa" whilst dreaming) and he gets abused by the admin at the makeshift orphanage for a number of reasons, the least sensible being the fact that it's his former home, Lecter Castle. Anyway, eventually his uncle, one Robert Lecter, comes to the orphanage to pick him up and take him home. He spends most of his time with his aunt, Lady Murasaki, and her "attendant", Chiyoh. This is generally very enriching for our boy, especially after the orphanage, because he is introduced to music, (Chiyoh often played the lute) more art, (not only was Robert Lecter an extremely revered painter, but the Lady showed him a lot of work with ink and the like) and the Japanese language. This helps us readers understand a bit more where all of his cultural knowledge stems from.
Now I can't remember if this is before or after Robert Lecter dies (I'm pretty sure after but I'm not going back and looking sorry gang), but Hannibal is at the market with the Lady and a butcher calls her a slur as well as sexually harasses her verbally. A day or so later Hannibal kills him. Not only is this the first time Hannibal has killed (that we know of), his aunt figures it out pretty quickly and just tells him to be more careful which is kind of hilarious.
The killing of the butcher is important for a lot of reasons, it being his first(allegedly) kill, him being all ceremonious about it (head chop), but also because we are introduced to the Inspector Popil, who is recurring and the main/only law enforcement we deal with throughout the book.
I'm now realizing that I forgot to mention that Robert Lecter and fam live resided in Paris, so that is where Hannibal finishes up his adolescence, and eventually went into medical school at the ripe age of 18 (breaking the record for the youngest person to do so). What is mainly shown of Hannibal's studies is working with cadavers (almost always those of executed prisoners) and drawing organs and such. I believe he was technically a TA, or maybe informally but you get the idea.
Now we get a lovely little arc where we learn about the inspector's morals, as well as Hannibal's a bit more. Hannibal is tasked with getting permission from a soon to be executed prisoner for the school to use his body for education. The man's first name was Louis and I don't remember his last but Hannibal pulls up to his cell and finds the man accompanied by a stack of clothes in the shape of a man. The man insists that he is representing the prisoner and that Lecter should only speak to him. Now I'm not sure if this is a show of intelligence, quick thinking, or empathy, but Lecter plays along immediately and kindly. The two strike a deal: Lecter will provide the prisoner with laudanum before his execution to make it painless, and the prisoner gives his formal permission for the school to use his body once it's gone. I'd like to note that the school does technically need the prisoner's permission, it's just good manners and Lecter putting in the effort is nice to me.
This leads to the first time we see Lecter and the inspector butt heads. Popil is so convinced that the prisoner must properly "face his consequences" that he tells Lecter he will be drug testing his body afterwards, and if he finds anything in his blood he will make sure Lecter can never get a medical license. Just in case you needed a reminder: this is a man who is clearly some form of insane. Yes this was the mid to late 1950's but Jesus Popil, you are not helping with the stereotypes.
The next scene our prisoner is getting reading to be guillotined and says something along the lines of "I was wondering where the police were when the Nazis put the children on the trains" in response to some "do you have any final words" comment by Popil. Popil makes a comment to Hannibal about Lecter and the prisoner being alike, and our boy responds with roughly "I was also wondering where the police were when the chickens were being put on trains" and oh it gagged me so hard.

miguel o'hara x reader (fluff) - nerdy college miguelito → she/her pronouns!
inspired by this image of him! glasses = smart
He's the sexiest mf with glasses because i said so
So intelligent! As per usual, I see him in an engineering or biochem major. Maybe statistics, or computer science minor. He's a bit of a nerd, the type that is just naturally brilliant; always asking creative questions in class. Babbles to you about his topics as a form of studying/affection; get good grades and keep his partner company.
He seems like the type that can easily learn and reteach information to you. He's a rare case where study dates actually work; you guys get so much work done.
Does that thing where he scrunches his nose to adjust his glasses. "Miguel, you're gonna get wrinkles if you do that." You remark, finishing the last of your Humanities discussion post. "So you do care for me?" Miguel smirks, tapping his pen against the table. "Just saying, you'll look 40 by the time you reach 30."
His Google Calendar is a crowded mess; at least four tasks per day, constant due dates to keep up with, he tries to save time for weekends.
Let's talk fashion! The sweatshirt he has on in the drawing has me on my knees. I'd love him in sweatshirts, straight leg jeans, big black puffer jacket, THOSE HALF-ZIP SWEATSHIRTS SO YOU CAN SEE A LITTLE BIT OF COLLARBONE, compression shirts on lucky days, possibly cargo pants??? Sometimes you guys match fits! If you dress up, he'll understand the assignment.
Carries around a black backpack, just with a laptop and an extra notebook. Hydrates with a HUGE water bottle. Keeps hairties, lip balm, and pain meds around in case you need them. (You do, often.)
College Miggy doesn't seem like the type to participate in Greek Life; he's there to get his education, start a step ahead in his career. Plus, he's too tired to go partying anyway.
It'd be super cute if y'all lived together; a dorm-to-apartment kind of thing. After your relationship's been serious for a while, you move in, sharing a room with Miguel just so you guys can split costs.
Miguel takes early morning classes, I can tell. Greets you on most days with a palm to your stomach, little kisses from behind. He latches onto you for warmth on chillier days, groaning and whining about not wanting to get up in the morning. "Mig, just go to class-" "Mmph, no." Miguel groans, ghosting his lips to the shell of your ear. He shuffles around in the bed, smothering and stealing your body of warmth. "M'cold!" You whine, Miguel's hands sneaking up your shirt.
YOU ARE the passenger princess in this AU, m'kay? (I can't drive-) Miguel, if he is available, will drive you anywhere! Class, mall, farmers market, coffee shop, etc. Ends up just tagging along with you most of the time. You think he's sexy when he's driving (because he is), slots his hand to your upper thigh like it's his birthright.
Most of the time, y'all are in your own little world; no participation in drama, celebrating each other's successes with a trip to a restaurant. Nothing else really matters when you're got both grades and each other to worry about.
Within the rare occasion that you guys share a class, y'all are on the same page. Working together, filling each other in on missing gaps, quizzing each other on tests; its great. Of course, you receive a high A. I feel like he'd be the type to randomly quiz or test you on something in the class. "Prophase vs. Anaphase? You playfully roll your eyes, continuing to stir your coffee.
Where do y'all think he'd work? I'd say paid internship or somewhere tech-y ykwim? He wouldn't really work at a cafe or campus store.
Oh my gosh what if he was rich!!!!! What if he spoils you with good food and well-thought out date nights? Elevating your relationship as a couple <333 WHAT IF HE PAYS YOUR TUITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh best man best man

Hello, Nightfolk Network. Me am gorilla.
Gorilla used to be in zoo. Then, one night, big white ball appear over gorilla nest. Ball make very big noise and very big light, get louder and brighter until gorilla fall asleep. When wake up, ball gone and gorilla am smart like person.
Gorilla want to live outside like person do, so run away from zoo. Have hard first month or so, but eventually gorilla find good job at dock and make enough to rent room from little old lady.
Dock job mostly good, is a lot of lift. Gorilla good at lift, and when gorilla go out for drink with work buddies, they say “attaboy, gorilla” and pat on back and gorilla feel like part of gang. Problem is, sometimes gorilla afraid world think gorilla ONLY good at lift, Nightfolk Network know what gorilla mean? Gorilla more than that. Good listener, enjoy trip to theatre… but worry people only see big gorilla arms and not big gorilla heart.
This make gorilla not sure where to go in life. Stay in dock job with money and people but keep just being big lift gorilla? Find other job? Maybe go to school, get degree?
Gorilla even consider going back to zoo, where gorilla know me have square meal every day and plenty of free time and no rent, but not know if it worth life beholden to schedule and whims of The Man. What Nightfolk Network advice?
Thank you,
Gorilla
My dear reader, it sounds as if you're at a very exciting crossroads in your life. You've made excellent progress in carving out a life for yourself after leaving the zoo, and I hope you can take a moment to be proud of how far you've come. You've found a home, a job, and have started building up a community around you. Attaboy, gorilla!
That said, I absolutely understand your frustration at the two-dimensional image your friends seem to have of you. You deserve to be loved and appreciated for all facets of your being, not only those which are most useful to other people.
I can't recommend going back to the zoo, I'm afraid. Unfortunately the benefits it offers come at far too great a cost – namely, to your autonomy and dignity. Better to make your own choices and risk the consequences than to have no choices at all.
Pursuing your education sounds like an excellent step in the right direction. Not only will it improve your chances in the job market, it will also hopefully expose you to all sorts of new ideas and perspectives on the world that you might not have had access to during your time at the zoo.
It will also put you in the way of other learners, and perhaps offer a different sort of friendship than your workmates provide. We all need all sorts of different relationships to feel supported, and the wider range of people you can socialise with, the better.
I don't think you necessarily need to jump straight in with a degree-level course, however. In fact, that might prove rather difficult. I have no doubt you are capable and intelligent enough to pursue a degree if you put your mind to it, but it will be very difficult to get a place on a course without any prior qualifications.
What's more, I'm very aware that you are only at the very earliest stage of your independence. University is a good fit for certain kinds of learners with certain kinds of interests, but it isn't the only option available to you.
You need to take a little time working out what it is you really want to do, and come up with a plan of action that suits your own needs.
I recommend reaching out to your local council to see what opportunities are available for adult learners. Many offer free courses where you can earn the equivalent of your GCSEs or A Levels, usually with flexible course times that can fit around a working person's schedule.
Just as your work friends need to learn to see you as a more rounded person, you also need to treat yourself with the same courtesy. You have so much within you that deserves to be nurtured and nourished, and are only at the start of the journey to discover what all those different needs might be.
In short, reader, I recommend throwing yourself into new experiences, pursuing whatever avenues take your interest, and opening that big gorilla heart to the world.

Alright, bucko—strap in. Here’s a speculative timeline + cultural map of what an intentional or emergent AI slowdown might look like, as systems (and humans) hit thresholds they weren’t ready for:
⸻
PHASE 1: THE FRENZY (2023–2026)
“It’s magic! It does everything!”
• AI is integrated into every app, interface, workspace, school.
• Productivity spikes, novelty floods, markets boom.
• Art, code, and content feel democratized—but also flooded with sameness.
• Emerging signs of fatigue: burnout, aesthetic flattening, privacy erosion.
⸻
PHASE 2: THE CRACK (2026–2028)
“Wait… who’s driving this?”
• Cultural bottleneck: Hyper-efficiency erodes depth and human uniqueness.
• Political tension: Regulation debates explode over elections, education, warfare, and job losses.
• AI-native Gen Z+ workers question value of constant optimization.
• Rise of “Slow Tech” movements, digital sobriety, and human-first UX design.
⸻
PHASE 3: THE CORRECTION (2028–2032)
“We need AI to disappear into the background.”
• AI goes low-profile: instead of being flashy, it’s embedded into infrastructure, not attention.
• Cultural shift toward local intelligence, emotional resonance, and craft.
• Smart systems assist but do not decide. You drive, it advises.
• New benchmarks: “Serenity per watt”, “Complexity avoided”, “Time saved for soul”.
⸻
PHASE 4: THE REWEAVING (2032–2035)
“Tools for culture, not culture as tool.”
• AI serves communal living, ecological restoration, learning ecosystems.
• Widespread adoption of “Digital Commons” models (open-source, ethical compute).
• Intelligence seen not as a weapon of dominance but as a craft of care.
• Humans rediscover meaning not just in what they can automate, but what they can hold together.
⸻
THE OVERALL MAP:
• Spiritual: Shift from worshipping intelligence to cultivating wisdom.
• Design: From smart cities to wise villages—tech that respects silence, presence, friction.
• Economy: From “scale fast” to “scale consciously.”
• Power: From algorithmic persuasion to consent-based architectures.
• Aesthetics: From algorithmic mimicry to radical human texture.
⸻
In this future, the most prized skill won’t be prompting or automation—it’ll be curating stillness in motion, designing for nuance, and knowing when not to use AI at all.
